‘How big does a boerboel grow?’ or ‘How big will my boerboel grow?’ are questions that we are frequently asked. It is also a question that potential owners need to be aware of.
As an ethical and responsible boerboel breeder, we always give the best and most accurate information about our boerboel puppies that we can. This is in no way to put potential owners off from owning an Aisha Boerboel pup but to allow potential owners to make the best decisions and choices before welcoming one of our puppies into their home.
The size that your little cute pup will grow to as an adult has a lot of considerations for any potential family considering owning a Boerboel. The cost of food, the cost of vet care and also just the space that they take up.
Adult boerboels are not small dogs. They take up a lot of room, shed and drool a lot and dont have the name of ‘velcro dogs’ without good reason.
An adult female boerboel can weigh from around 50kg up to 70kg. Whilst a male boerboel can weigh from around 60kg up to 90+kg. This can be quite difficult to visualise so here is a little demonstration…
Here is our very own baby Pablo (Sandaharr El Camino) from a very young puppy with Sandaharr Kennels to the day we fetched him home to Aisha Boerboels. Even at the time of collecting him, you can see he barely fits on Donna’s knee.
Skip forward a few years and you can see the finished size of ‘baby’ Pablo.
Having recently celebrated his 9th birthday, Pablo is still the same lovable boy he always was. However that lovable boy reached around 90kg in his prime (now around 80kg) and stands 70 cm tall with a 70 cm neck.
Your cute little puppy may always remain cute but wont remain little for very long!
